5th March 2012 Challenge

I tried to come up with a way to tie this challenge into a March Madness theme. I decided to make it an embellishment madness challenge. I would like for you to use 20 or more of the same type of embellishments on your project. You could use brads, flowers, buttons, die cuts, stickers... Whatever you choose!

On my example, I used more than 30 flowers on the roof of my paper birdhouse. I also used more than 20 stickers. It was a great way to use a lot of the amazing stickers that came in the Celebrate Life kit.

8th Grade

Happy Wednesday! I am here to share my last LO I made with the Be Amazing kit. How fast the years go with our children. You bring home this precious bundle, then blink! They are starting kindergarten. You blink again and they are heading into high school. I know I am going to blink and she will be graduating. I can't believe my oldest has been out of high school six years almost. So I know it will go fast!

This page is about how proud I am of her. She is a great student. No homework battles. Actually, I am not all that involved. I don't need to be, unless she needs help with an assignment.I love how well, again, this matches! The teals in the kit go so well with the photos!!!
I did play around with the OA sprinkler in the kit. I love the spatters!!
I layered the "school rules" banner on top of the MME banner piece. The tags were perfect for anchoring my title.
I love the wordy chip piece. I love the message it says. I used one of my itop punches to punch a sun, if you will then adding a button threaded with some twine. Of course, a little butterfly to finish off the corner.

Not exactly a school kit. But, it worked great for my girl's first day of school photos I took. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Scrappin'

Birthday Celebration

Hi everyone! It's Heather, and I have three different birthday cards to share today. We celebrated Brandon and Jordan's birthday yesterday so it's a good thing that I had quite a few scraps leftover from my Celebrate Life kit and add on. I used those scraps to create these cards.

I love how versatile the kit was this month. I was able to make feminine and masculine cards out of the same paper by changing the embellishments a bit. I totally love when that happens. The cupcake patterned paper was my favorite in the kit. So cute!

This card is a little more grown up and elegant. I think my Mom will be receiving it when her birthday rolls around. I used the Perfect Pearls to add a little bit of shimmer to the big flower. They're so easy to use.

I think this card could be used for a boy or a girl! I added a little bit of ribbon from my stash and I popped the tag with foam dots. I loved the sentiment on the tag. It's a really great view to have about life.

Have you all seen the sneak peeks for next month?! I am so excited to get my hands mine. They both look gorgeous. (As always!)

Bermuda Blues and an Extra

Ahhh...the beautiful blue waters of Bermuda! Did you know that there's actually a scientific reason that these waters are such a pretty deep shade of blue? They appear bluer than the water in many other locales due to the low levels of phytoplankton in the waters surrounding the island. Whatever the reason, it looks so inviting and I really wanted to get those delightful colors onto my page. I tried to do just that in a couple of different ways. First, I lightly sprayed my kraft cardstock background with Glimmer Mist (Lake), a beautiful blue-green color that approximated the ocean hues. Next, I chose various papers in shades of blue or blue print from the Scraptastic Club Be Amazing Kit. I cut, inked and layered them on the layout, adding a cluster of embellishments and my title. The ocean's colors were picked up perfectly in the cloud, butterfly, and patterned paper placed directly behind my photo!

What is also amazing and somewhat unusual, is that my husband and I are in the photo together, thanks to whoever took the camera from me and snapped this pic! And that thought brought about the idea of placing a camera embellishment on my page. I found this camera clip art image in the public domain and free for personal use, cut it out with my die-cutting machine, matted it on white paper, cut again by hand and added a little heart. Fun!

Aside from the tiny letter stickers, everything on this page came from the beautiful Be Amazing Kit. I love all the cute embellishments included, as they add so much to the finished page.

Here's another page I completed by layering paper scraps from the kit underneath my photo. Now I have officially used up every piece of patterned paper (except for the tiniest scraps) from the entire kit! Go me!

I hope you have just as much fun using every last bit of your Scraptastic Club kit. It was good to the last drop!

Hello Tat

Good morning Saturday!

Pinky here to share another layout using the Celebrate Life kit for March.
I thought it would be fun to scrapbook the memory of my tattoo, and
the artsy feel of the Authentique paper was perfect for this.

For me this kit was very versatile, WAY more than just birthdays!
Hope you have enjoyed my samples, happy Saturday my friends.

A couple more layouts from Melanie...

Hello, It's Melanie Here!

I had a great time looking at all the great layouts and projects posted here in the last couple of weeks.  These girls are seriously talented!

To add to my gallery I have a few more layouts I created with the March: "Be Amazing kit"

This is me and my family from a couple years ago.... I didn't really put a title on this page but I figured there was enough wording on the chipboard pieces to use as my journaling. Just as long as I have a date on the page I can work with that.

I did some tone on tone on this page. I love this Martha Stewart doily punch. Then flicked some of the October Afternoon sprinkler's. I also used some Studio Calico Mr. Huey's mists too.

For this layout I used Heather's sketch (which I posted below). Make sure you visit her blog too!

I used paper scraps to make my own washi looking tape. I told you I was obsessed with it!

 Here's the sketch I used.

I can't believe March is coming to an end..but that means brand new April kits are around the corner! I'm super excited to start working with it!

Have a great weekend!
Melanie

Thursday Challenge

Hello everyone! Michelle here. It is my turn to challenge you this month. :)

Spring is in the air here. I love the renewed feeling spring brings. Birds migrating back, things blooming, the pretty colors of new blooms. This month, I had the Be Amazing kit and add-on to work with. Might I just say, it was nothing short of amazing! Don't you agree? I love the blue and yellow combination. It is so pretty. With that being said, I thought it would be fun to do a color challenge.

Here is your color palette to work with. If you don't have the Be Amazing kit, no worries. You can use your your own supplies. :)
(source)

Here is my example.
I love the tags that were in this kit. I also wanted to try my hand at doing something different with them. I love seeing all the different tags around the web. This is my attempt. It feels very springy to me. :) I love how this turned out. I punched some teal cardstock. I cut a piece of patterned paper to fit. The polka dot paper is from my stash, as well as the doily and crinkle ribbon. I loved the big butterflies in the kit and knew I was going to use it. Looking through the chipboard, I had to use the banner piece. Because it kind of glows and to add that visual triangle, I thought the teal word piece was fitting. :) I added a brad for a little extra dimension and texture.

So there you have it!! Now, it is your turn. See what you can come up with with the color palette. I can't wait to see. And if you want to challenge yourself a little more, try and make something you usually don't. It is fun to see what we can do if we push ourselves out of our comfort zone a little.

You have until April 4th, to link your project to the inlinkz tool below. The prize this month is a $20 gift card to Scraptastic Club's Store.

Happy Scrapping!!

Minnehaha Falls

Michelle here. I am excited to share with you another project I made with the Be Amazing kit and add-on. I think this is my favorite kit yet!! I just love the soft, calming color palette. It has fit so well with some family photos that I have scrapped thus far.

This next page is no exception. This kit and photo were a match made in heaven. :) I love how this came together. I love the mix of patterns. I punched the border of my carstock for to add a little extra interest to my page, as well as all the pen stitching.

For the title, I wanted a sun to go with those clouds. Well, who says you can't alter a die cut piece to work for you! :) I took the scalloped die cut piece and trimmed it to look like a sun! Layer a few clouds, add a title and a butterfly, and viola!
When I saw this chip piece I knew I had to use it. The saying went so well with my photo as we were walking a city park one evening last summer. It was truly a lovely day. ;) I added a few half pearls from my stash to finish it off.
More layered die cut pieces with a threaded button and half pearls from my stash to balance out my embellishments.

This kit has been perfect for scrapping my family photos. I hope you are able to find some time to scrap those memories!!!

Fantastic Four

Hi everyone! It's Monday and I'm back to share more scrappy inspiration with you. I've used most of my Celebrate Life kit so I have had to look for ways to use my scraps. I really wanted to use the kit with these photos of my son because the colors worked so well together. I searched the internet for inspiration and when I came across Susan Stringfellow's sketch #66, I knew it would be perfect.

I used the little word stickers from the kit to do a tiny bit of journaling. I also used a lot of Stickles to dress up the sticker embellishments from this kit. The cake on the journaling spot has Rock Candy Stickles on it, and the star circle is outlined in Black Diamond Stickles. The little button brad came from my stash.

This is the first time I've ever made a rosette successfully! I've tried before, but they kept popping up. Apparently the secret is in using the right glue. I had to search for a while to find my hot glue gun, but once I did it all came together. I topped the rosette with a sticker and more Stickles.

I added a simple title and placed the pinwheel next to it to add interest because it felt a little too plain. I really loved the sparkly Thickers that came in the add on!

That's all for me today! I hope that you all have a wonderfully scrappy week.

Sand & Sun

The Be Amazing Kit from Scraptastic Club has the most beautiful blue hues, colors that immediately brought to my mind the water of the Florida panhandle and our vacations to the beach. I was thus inspired to pull out this picture of my youngest and his cousin from one such joyous week of relaxation. The two boys are such good buddies now. Their backs are to the camera, but you can see that one is leaning over to talk to the other, probably saying something like "Did you see that wave I caught!" or "Let's go inside and get a snack!" They always have so much to say to each other, and my journaling expresses the desire of mine to be that "fly on the wall" or "crab in the sand", listening in on their conversation.

Two of the white tags from the kit highlight a horizon scene. Don't you just love those chipboard clouds?! The long over-sized banner on the left side of the page holds the title and gives me more room to play. A simply pieced sailboat fills up the spot, but you could put a flower cluster or other embellishment in its place. If you are verbose, that oversized banner could be a great spot for your journaling as well.

Whenever I scrap pictures of our days at the beach, I begin to dream about our next vacation. Can't wait for those lazy days to be here! Do you take a summer vacation? Winter vacation? Where do you dream of going?

a few projects

TGIF my Scraptastic friends!
This week has flown by...I can't believe it's Friday already. Hubs has been gone all week for work (Napa)...must be nice. My week started off with Bailey having lice...totally has grossed me out. I don't like bugs of any kind. So that's been my week, how has your week been?

Today I'm sharing a couple of projects that I finished up over the weekend.
First up is The Twister Champ

I used the Celebrate Life Kit and Add-On for this layout...the pictures from a sleepover that we had weeks ago were perfect for this kit! I hand cut all of the banners on the bottom and then matted them with white cardstock so they stood out better on the black cardstock. I painted the white thickers that were in the add-on with a paint dauber from a past kit...the white just wasn't working for me.

Next up is a layout that I made using the Be Amazing Kit and Add-On.
Be Amazing

To start, I splattered my kraft cardstock with Miss Mary Mack Sprinkler, Atmosphere Mister Huey and White Mister Huey. I matted my patterned papers with the teal cardstock from the kit. And I totally stole Melanie's idea of tearing the chipboard pieces apart from the chipboard sheet in the add-on...I really like all of those pieces much better once they weren't so thick. Oh, and the little kraft butterfly stickers...I painted the edges of the smaller butterfly with a teal paint dauber from a past kit and then layered them...love how they turned out.

And last up is a little Birthday card that I made with the Celebrate Life Kit
Happy Birthday

I hand cut the banners and matted them on black cardstock and then white cardstock. I then punched some holes in the top so I could run my twine through them, made some bows and voila....a cute little birthday card.

I'm hoping to spend a little time in my scraproom this weekend...fingers crossed!
I will have the first sneaks of the April Kits next weekend...I'm just waiting on my last box of scrappy goodies. I hope that you all have a fabulous weekend!
